Note: With the OSTP testing window approaching, please ensure that all devices have the required updates and that you have run Site Readiness checks to support a smooth testing experience. Failure to install the Chromebook App Update will prevent students testing on Chromebooks from being able to log in to the OSTP.
ChromeOS Users -
As part of Google’s ongoing updates to ChromeOS, support for legacy ChromeOS Apps, including the OSTP Chrome App, have been phased out. The new ChromeOS extension-based kiosk application has been designed to replace the current legacy OSTP Chrome App for the 2025-2026 school year.
You must install the new Progress Web App (PWA) and the iTester ChromeOS Carrier Extension before Spring Testing Administration. If you have installed the OSTP Chrome app in previous years’ you must remove the legacy Chrome app before adding the OSTP Web App for ChromeOS.
NOTE: Failure to follow each setup step exactly for Chrome OS Users may prevent students from successfully testing in Spring 2026.

What You Need to Know
- New App Required: The new PWA and OSTP Web App for ChromeOS must be installed on all ChromeOS devices used Spring 2026 testing.
- Easy Setup: Step-by-step instructions for setup and configuration are included in the OSTP Kiosk Installation Guide
- Extension Pairing: The PWA will work alongside a Chrome extension to support secure kiosk testing.
- Readiness Check Before Testing Starts: We strongly recommend schools complete site readiness to ensure all devices are ready for testing after installing the new PWA and OSTP Web App for ChromeOS to ensure no testing interruptions occur.
